The Whole of Sirocco is Filed Away
"Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
So said George Santayana (1863-1952), the famed Spanish-American philosopher. It is a phrase that has gone down in history with many variations, but all point back to the importance of knowing where one's present situation came from. It is the recognition of this importance that is reflected in the National Archives of Sirocco. Established on 18 March 2015 (3 Prime 69), the National Archives seeks to record and store as much of Sirocco's history as it can. Whether this is in the form of printed material, historic photographs, television broadcasts, or other media, all of it is recorded with the National Archives in Havilland. The National Archives works with national and local governments, libraries, the Siroccan Broadcasting Corporation, the Sirocco Times, private collectors, and other organisations where Siroccan history is kept. Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, all government-owned material has been kindly handed to the National Archives for safekeeping, while other organisations, like the SBC and the Times, have given copies of their material, with the originals retained in their own archives. |
